READ
2009, Subterranean Books, St. Louis, MO

Wassenaar creates a spiraling and dizzying vinyl installation with the letters “R,” “E,” “A,” and “D.” The vinyl letters are applied to the retail storefront of a popular bookstore, Subterranean Books. Artist Jana Harper designed the floor and wall from scavenged and borrowed books.

2025, Richmond Heights Memorial Library, St. Louis, MO

Wassenaar worked with the patrons of Richmond Heights Memorial Library to do a text intervention in the prominent windows that line the children’s space. She composed a series of overlapping poetic lines that stream across the space, based on community responses to the question “why do you read?”
Forty-one responses from all ages were gathered in a library collection box, online, and during a community listening session.
